Receiving gifts
Receiving gifts
sometimes i wonder if the attitude of love always accompany by the concept of giving. Could it be that gift giving is a fundamental expression of love that transcends cultural barriers? i guess a gift is something you can hold in your hand and say, 'look, he was thinking of me,' or, 'she remembered me.' One must be thinking of another to give that person a gift. The gift itself is a symbol of that thought. It doesn't matter whether it costs money. what is important is that you thought of him. And it is not the thought implanted only in the mind that counts, but the thought expressed in actually securing the gift and giving it as the expression of love.
For myself, i appreciate another intangible gift that sometimes speaks more loudly than a gift that can be held in one's hand. I call it the gift of self or the gift or presence. Being there when i needed the person most, beats sending me dozen of roses or gifts. ok that doesn't mean i don't like gifts but i don't deny sometimes i do associate gifts as visual symbols of love. without them, i may question the love. so lovers lovers, get into the shopping mood to shop for valentines' day gifts. happy shopping cos it shall hurt your leg badly if you wear heels. so no heels if shopping is on the list to do for the day.
random entry but yeah.
